As the title says, I tried two by Armani: Ocean di Gioia & Acqua di Gioia. While I preferred the Acqua, the Ocean is still really, really nice. It’s a very sweet sweet floral with the fruitiness close behind - I think the two combined is a bit to powerfully sweet a start to me - but it mellows into the softer aquatic floral pretty quickly, which is really nice. I think the soft musk comes clearer once the initial fruit fades a bit, and it balances the floral out.

Great scent for hot summer days. It’s clean and fresh and not at all overpowering. A lot of ‘fresh’ scents turn out to be more sweet or fruity, but this one isn’t. It also isn’t. It’s subtle scent that you need to be close to smell it, but that also means the scent fades pretty quickly and is only noticeable for a few hours - you can still smell it if you press your nose to your skin, but that’s all that’s left. It’s very similar to the acqua di gioia, both in scent and lasting power, but this scent is missing the strong pear and citrus notes that are so prominent in the other. Overall, it’s a really nice perfume that would be great for every day wear, particularly throughout the spring and summer. And it would probably be a good perfume to wear to work because it’s so delicate. I don’t know if it layers well - I see that in in so many descriptions and reviews, but I don’t know how to layer scents and don’t want to make myself smell badly by trying. Because I like the Acqua di Gioia more, I don’t know that I’d pay full price for a bottle of Ocean, but I’d definitely buy it at a discounted or sale price.
